Should I get a Soundbar?
Why a Soundbar?
Originally when Digital Surround sound became available in the home in the mid to late 1990's people would have a dedicated surround sound system which usually consisted of an High Power AV Receiver/Amplifier and 6, 8 or 10 individual speakers placed around the room for the surround effect which all needed to be connected up with cabling took up considerable space and was reasonably complicated to set up properly. This wasn't for everyone, and as dwelling sizes got smaller, soundbars started to appear which compensated for the poor at times "tiny" sound that flat screen TVs had. Soundbars progressed and began to mimic the surround sound effect you got from a full home theater system including subwoofer and rear surround speakers. Nowadays, a better quality soundbar can have very impressive home theatre surround sound as well as doubling up as the home music HiFi by connecting to your streaming service off your phone via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Soundbars are now so popular that major retailers like JB HiFi no longer sell full discrete surround sound systems with the individual speakers.
Types of soundbars include entry level 2.1 channel which has left and right for stereo and the .1 stands for a subwoofer which is a separate box that produce bass. Higher end soundbars are now very good sounding and can have 5.1 or even 10.1 surround with wireless rear surround speakers that simply plug into a power point and don't need cabling back to where the TV is. They use Digital Signal Processing to create a very clear life like 3D sound and can cost $1000's.
Can I mount a soundbar on the wall under the TV? Yes. All Tech Sorted are specialists in TV and soundbar mounting form Brisbane to Gold Coast, Ipswich and all areas in between. We can mount your soundbar neatly just under the TV. The subwoofer usually pairs wirelessly to the soundbar and can be placed out of site anywhere in the room (ideally in front of the viewing position) as the human ear can't really detect the direction of where low frequency bass comes from.
It's important to note that if you have a dedicated home theatre or media room or just want the best most thrilling, punchy, immersive audio-visual experience then traditional separate individual hardwired speakers with a high-powered surround receiver /amplifier will give the best results. If space and aesthetics are a concern, we can mount the individual speakers both in the ceiling and the walls (depending on premises layout and construction).
